Vintage Seiko Skyliner Calendar 6222-8000 1965
A first generation Seiko Skyliner 'Calendar' 6222-8000 Manual Wind where 'Calendar' basically just means that it has a date-function. It was produced in 1965 - so that makes it over 60 years old!
The Skyliner was introduced in the early 60s as successor from the 'Seiko Liner' Range and was positioned in the mid-range. They were all manual wind movements and there was only a handful of variations over time.
My personal favourite on these 60's Seiko's is the caseback: Check out the horseshoe on famous 'waterproof' seahorse which is still intact, something that often has faded over time. It's also a relatively large case with 42mm lug-to-lug in SGP, which has detoriated over time on several spots.
The Seiko Cal. 6222 runs great, winds smoothly and has good powerreserve with a daily deviation of 52s/d. Servicehistory is unknown and not performed in my posession.
These are very specific old JDM models that don't come along very often outside of Japan, and increasingly harder to find in good condition. While the condition of the case of this one isn't perfect, it's still a great manual-wind vintage watch for a fair price in a modern sized case.
The watch has been cleaned ultrasonically and placed on an used brown leather strap with SGP buckle.
