Vintage Seiko Cronos Self-Dater 15020 1960s
Stunning Vintage Seiko Cronos Self Dater Manual-Wind Watch with reference 15020 from the 1960s. Seiko Dress Watches from the early 60s are getting harder to find in original, untouched and well-preserved condition, this one is an absolute gem!
The Seiko Cronos-range was produced by the Daini factory from 1958 to 1964 producing high-end quality manual-wind watches. The Cronos is most famous for the first Seiko Dive Watch to 50m. This specific model is part of the Seiko Self-Dater line up with date-only which started production in 1960.
Seiko Cronos was a key and foundation laying series for Seiko in the 60s and could be seen as precedessor to the King Seiko watches.
This Seiko Cronos Self Dater features a 34mm EGP 20 micron plated case with a lug-to-lug of 40mm which is still in great condition. The dial is in very good condition, untouched, original and has the dial marking C515H22A featuring gold-plated stick indices with dauphine sword hands.
It still has the original, very thick crystal which domes way above the otherwise flat dress watch with date-magnification glass, giving an unique feel.
The crown is original to this model but the 'S' is faded and can not be seen well anymore.
The watch runs great, winds smooth and measured +11s/d | 282 Amplitude | 0.1ms BE - very impressive for 70 years old, showing what a quality movement this is.
